Niz

My name is Niz. I am a self taught street artist, originally from Lima, Peru. I specialize in large scale stencil murals and custom portraiture. My start in the art world is rooted in Latin American culture, skateboarding, hip hop and urban life. Proclaimed “The Queen of Stencil Art” by The Austin American Statesman, I have been painting murals in Austin for 12 years. my style is instantly recognizable and many of my pieces become landmarks.

My pieces are inspired by mythology, spirituality, elevated consciousness, music and activism. My work attempts to blend the organic free flow found in nature with the mystical, magical human experience. My niche is in Goddess and archetype portraiture that aims to empower and elevate consciousness. My heart is also in bringing important social and psychological issues to light, so the content of my murals varies according to what the times call for. Having lived in Austin, Texas, for some time, there is also an emphasis on musical portraiture.

I enjoy co creating with my client’s and like to leave room for creative freedom and spontaneity on both ends. I am a proud member of Few and Far Women, the largest all female graffiti crew in the world and am passionate about reinventing women’s places in the arts and the streets alongside them.
